Berlin

Berlin was not as beautiful as other European cities, although it had it's high points, but it was really interesting. its recent turbulent history gave it strong character, and it probably not very strangely, remind me of derry and Belfast.

Brandenburg gate, a bit over 20 years ago this square was no mans land, and anyone here would have been shot.

A bit of the beautiful Berlin. A lot of it had to be rebuilt after ww2 and the fall of the wall.

Something bizarre I saw in my wanders, not sure what it is.

Standing on both sides of the wall, possibly not the best place the this, below was a better choice.

A stretch of the Berlin wall, painted after the fall and preserved.

A rebuilt stretch of the wall, surrounded by walls itself.
A truly creepy west Berlin nuclear bunker, so badly planned anyone stuck down there after a nuclear event would just have died a slower and more painful death than anyone caught directly in the fallout. It was a PR exercise.

The east built (with help from swedish engineers) tv tower now beautifully lit up at night.
